Brawn Chassis Auction
Bonhams 25th July 2009
| Brawn F1 sale There was much interest in these cars. The average achieved price was 8% above the highest estimate; clearly a good day to sell an F1 car. The exception to this was a late entry which was a replacement for an advertised lot that wasn't available, as such buyers weren't as eager to invest. Unfortunately it is unlikely any of these will have an engine put in them and be seen at a track or hill climb soon. More likely they will make a nice display in a entry to an office block, or be a private museum piece. They could make a nice playstation seat... Essentially none of them were much use, but £10,000 gets you an F1 show car, one based on an original chassis is nice (+30-60%). For a race car with a history of points you pay double, quadruple for a podium. What would a winning car be? For BAR/Honda there is only one of those from Button's 2006 Hungaroring win so it should get a six figure sum if it came on the market. |
